Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Meat Cutter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in butchery and food preparation, with advanced knife skills and a deep understanding of meat processing techniques. This role requires precision cutting with minimal to zero wastage, along with a strong commitment to food safety and customer service. The Meat Cutter will play a vital role in preparing high-quality meat products, ensuring proper handling, packaging, and presentation, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat according to specifications and quality standards
- Perform precise meat cutting with minimal to zero wastage
- Carry out evisceration processes safely and efficiently, where required
- Safely handle and operate knives and cutting tools with a high level of proficiency
- Ensure all meat products are handled hygienically in compliance with food safety regulations
- Package meat products securely for retail display or customer orders
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, tools, and equipment to uphold sanitation standards
- Assist with inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of low supplies
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and offering product recommendations
- Follow all food handling protocols to prevent contamination and ensure product freshness
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and maintain workflow efficiency
Requirements:
- Proven experience in butchery or meat processing is required
- Strong knife handling skills and experience working with professional cutting tools
- Knowledge of meat cutting techniques, including evisceration, is essential
- Ability to minimize waste while maintaining product quality and yield
- Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety guidelines
